Halcyon Assembly™ vortex inhibitor units and plates are installed on the suction line of fire pumps to control the turbulence in the flowing water or within the fire or break tank. They are engineered and manufactured with proprietary information from Climate LLC, and are very effective in controlling the velocity of the fluid thus preventing cavitation to fire pumps, damaging impellers, and collapsing municipal and residential water lines and tanks. Our product line expands from PE100 to stainless steel that includes bolt on Halcyon Assembly™ plates, plate and spooled elbow, and welded one piece units. Over the past several years through our global network of partners, we have made plates and units from two inch pipe diameter in multiple variations up to sixty inch pipe diameter, which included manufacturing the plate in several bolt together pieces in order to make shipping globally an option for clients.
A Halcyon Assembly™ shall consist of a horizontal steel plate that is designed to the diameter of the outlet and connected to a designed elbow or horizontal outlet that meet and exceed the NFPA 22 Standards. Large, standard size anti-vortex plates are most common and are desirable, as they are adequate for all sizes of fire protection pump suction pipes normally used. Installation dimensions: Mounted at the outlet a distance above the bottom of the tank equal to one–half the diameter of the discharge pipe. Halcyon Assembly™ inspection: Inspection of the Halcyon Assembly™ plate or unit shall be after completion of the tank construction, and before filling the tank with water. The inspection shall verify that the horizontal steel plate and long radius elbow are installed properly and meet the requirements of dimensions and installation height mentioned above.
